GEOX Winter 2013 Men’s Footwear and Apparel Collection

How many times during the winter happened to you that, when you are outside, you cover yourself from head to toe, all to not feel the cold, then when you go inside you feel overheating, while outside you were freezing. Well, this will not happen with the apparel and footwear Geox.

Geox trademark thermo-regulating technology is the epicenter of a contemporary lifestyle selection for a dynamic urban men and proposes for the fall-winter 2013-14 a Men's Collection inspired on the frosty northern latitudes.

Thanks to their kind invitation, I had the pleasure to participate to the preview of their Men's Collection at Firenze's Pitti Uomo.
The winter collection is loaded with a modern design, long-lasting comfort, transversal themes, exclusive details and a color chart that evokes the aurora borealis and the winter wilderness.

The footwear and apparel share the same clean and refined mood conceived for a young man on the move whose wardrobe spans from formal to casual, from mild to rigid climates. Self-assured, he wears the trends from head to toe with a personality that favors function and quality rather than overstated style choices.

As always, the Geox technology sets the collections apart, both the main one and the specific lines which are:

Amphibiox, a successful technique that grants unprecedented and total waterproof and breathability thanks to a special breathable and water repelling membrane applied to both the outsole and to the shoe’s upper. The AMPHIBIOX range covers a variety of needs and occasions spanning formal, outdoors and sneakers. The latter is the biggest innovation within the Amphibiox world.

Xand, the next generation of GEOX, and the first to embody the revolutionary concept of Urban Shoes. The combined effect of the cushioning, the maxi holes and the full size membrane over the entire surface of the sole optimize the breathability and the temperature control.

Geox Performing Concept, a ground breaking technique where Geox’s hallmark breathing system is applied to the men’s and women’s apparel thanks to 2-layer fabric featuring a waterproof, breathable and windproof membrane.

Similarly, the Blugeox denim line reveals new colorations, treatments and shapes for jeans, shirts and jackets that perfectly befit the three key themes of the new collection.

THE NORTHERN LIGHTS
The evocative atmospheres of the north spruced up by a whiff of Sixties British eccentricity for outerwear that revisits the sporty and hunting worlds. Soft nuances inspired by the crack of dawn that gradually veer towards ice, winter ocean blue and tundra brown.

Coated cotton nylon parkas and field jackets skim the body and feature detachable Thermore linings and eco-friendly fur hoods. Tossed over peach soft nylon shirts, stone washed chinos and mélange cashmere and wool sweaters, they create a versatile looks for the city streets and countryside paths.

Formal and dapper, it is characterized by an artisanal hand emphasized by brushed or waxed calfskin and tumbled skins. Under the spotlight are a high-top sneaker with a vintage patina cobbled with nylon or suede and leather combos that tread on a light sole; high or low wing tips from the Amphibiox line and semi-polished brogues for an elegance that breaks away from business tradition.

The Xand, instead, features sporty connotations in suede matched with nylon or fabric.

AVIATOR REVISED
The appeal of heroic enterprises carried out by aviators from the past continues to fly high with subtle military references that ooze warmth and elegance via contrasting materials such as rubber applications on distressed leathers.

Woodsy shades of burnt brown, ochre, vivid orange and wine red for outerwear emphasized by high-performing materials and quirky mixes – high-tech nylon oxford with wool flannel insets, waxed nylon down jackets with contrasting details and a nylon camouflage bomber. The quilting patterns on linings, collars and hoods recall vintage uniforms as do the overprinted knits and the jersey tops with corduroy insets.

Tumbled calfskin boots with waxed canvas insets, desert boots in waxed suede on thick rubber soles and mid-cut sneakers with leather piping are tinted in hues of desert, chestnut, chocolate and wine. And for the younger crowd, rubber and distressed leather Amphibiox sneakers with camouflage sole - for adventurous men with an urban soul.

ARCTIC HIGH-TECH
Discovering the arctic pole and frosty altitudes. An array of warm and technological outerwear tweaked to sleek city effect in coffee and cobalt blue, greys and black. Underneath, a layer of mélange turtlenecks in wool and mohair.

Also key is the second GEOX PERFORMING CONCEPT capsule collection, this season enriched with the Techno Tweed 3layer technique that features both Thermore quilting and thermo-taped details in contrasting colors on ultra-light and super warm down jackets whose insulating power helps maintain a constant body temperature.

Sanded leathers, rugged oiled calfskin, nylon and rubber insets or application on laced boots, brogues, alongside sneakers and boots that draw from the world of running and trekking. Graphite, petrol blue, military green, khaki and whisky brown.
