PFW - The Golden Fleece by Rami Al Ali SS2023

The Dubai-based couture designer Rami Al Ali presented the Spring Summer 2023 Haute Couture Collection with a show held during the Paris Couture Fashion Week, with a thirty looks collection inspired by The Golden Fleece, one of Greek mythology’s oldest fables.

Considered one of the world's best-kept secrets in couture, Rami Al Ali has been designing since 1995, this collection is a nod to his twenty-seven years of couture know-how.

In thirty pieces, Al Ali's sartorial narration is clear, textured and dreamy, perfect for the warmer months to come. The first look, a ruffle layered dress in cream with gold detailing that is short in the front revealing the legs, has an A-line full skirt in the back.

Known for its embellished details and flamboyant silhouettes, this collection is no different. The looks are feminine and captivating, melting the hearts and minds of many women, but most importantly, they feel beautiful in whatever silhouette they feel most comfortable in.

The iconic designer's touch is found in the skirting area of the dresses, with folds and drapes that create a modern yet sculptural technique. One dress in the collection, a column silhouette is combined with grand plinth details at the back. Creating a youthful, fun and eye-catching dress.

He takes great pride in his work, controlling every detail of a dress before it hits the catwalk or is revealed in a presentation, hawk-eyed Al Ali makes sure that no thread is misplaced, no train is knocked over, and every wrinkle is pushed away. Shoulders back, head held high, there is a regality and healthy pride he has for his creations. He makes quality pieces and this collection is the perfect example.

His color palette choice of light pastels offers a dreaminess, and that, in combination with artful silhouettes, is the connection to Greek stories in the collection. "He plays with the softest shades of sky blue, mist green, lavender, champagne beige and blush pink, alongside sparkling silver and gold colors," the house shares in notes.

And his use of satin, muslin and brocade, tulle and organza are part of the mythological story he tells. For shimmering gold and silver accents, and beads are combined with feathers to add shape and movement.
