Her blog is a place to chronicle and share her personal style, beauty tips, fashion obsessions and life inspirations. So get to know her better with this blogger interview.
Hi Denise, could you start by telling us a bit about yourself?
I am a lover of all things fashion and style. I've loved this stuff since I was a little girl. I am an HR professional by day and a blogger by night. I moved from NYC, 7 years ago and I now live in Scottsdale Arizona. I love to travel. Paris is on my bucket list.
Can you tell us about your blog, and what inspired you to start it?
I always get stopped and asked who I am wearing or where did I purchase the clothing, shoes, accessories. The best way for me to share was to start a blog. I had been wanting to do it for years. I finally bit the bullet and launched the blog in May. It is a work in progress.
How would you describe your own personal style?
My style is classic with a little edge. I always buy pieces that will always be around for the most part.
What do you think will be the big hits fashion wise for the next season?
We are seeing color trending now not just for fall. I see that continuing into next year. The hits for next year will be a little of everything, a lot of jeweled clothing, vibrant colors, and a lot of fitted clothes. The staples will remain basic black will always be in. the color blocking will continue to grow as people get more comfortable with wearing color.
Where do you tend to buy your clothes, and why?
I have my favorite stores, I love Ann Taylor their clothes are classic and they carry petite sizes. J Crew I buy my trendier clothing there, I love the colors and the styles they carry. I buy my casual and weekend wear there. Talbots is great for dresses, they carry a more classic look. Ia lso love Banana Republic for clothing. On occasion I will shop at Anthropologie. My big retailers are Nordstrom and sometimes Bloomingdales. They're customer service is impeccable. I am a customer for life. I shop at stores that make clothes that fit my body type and that also carry great quality merchandise.
What do you spend a lot of money on?
I spend a lot of money on shoes. More than the outfit I think the shoes pull the look together.
Do shops and advertisers send you samples of their goods to feature?
I am now starting to get some interest in trying samples. I am hoping that as my blog gets more recognition that I will receive more of these offers.
Do you have any fashion rules when putting an outfit together?
I try to not restrict myself when putting a look together. I used to always think that colors should match. I have moved away from that and started playing with different fabrics and patterns in one look. When I try the pieces I immediately know if its a good look or not. I rarely miss my mark.
Where do you find the inspiration for your blog posts?
My inspiration for my posts often come from what is going on in my life. It also comes from the things that I see in magazines and just things that I like to talk about. I feel that the more real you are the more your audience can connect to you.
Is there a person that is a fashion inspiration to you?
My inspirations are people like Audrey Hepburn and Diana Ross who blazed the fashion trail before me. their styles live on. when I get dressed I know that I know what my style is and I suspect others do also. It's not about a trend its about my statement. My outfit is my stamp.
What’s your next fashion must have?
I so, so want a Chanel bag.
Who does your amazing photography?
My husband is a leisure photographer so he takes my pictures. Sometimes if there is not time for him to set up we use my Iphone 6 which takes amazing photos.
What is the biggest challenge about fashion blogging?
My challenge is that I could have an amazing idea but I'm at work and I can't do anything about it at that moment. So I have to wait until I get home and sometimes the idea loses the authenticity.
What do you love most about blogging?
I love talking about fashion, I love sharing the beauty products that work for me. I like sharing what works for me because it may inspire or help someone. I feel this is my gift, why not share it.
How often do you post?
I post daily for the most part on instagram, facebook, and on wordpress
Where do you see your blog in the next five years?
I see my blog as a household name and with advertisers paying me for my ideas and opinions on their product.
